"They go when they want," explains Pedro Simões of Vagoleite, a dairy farm in the town of Lombomeão, in Vagos, which thanks to its modern equipment gives a great degree of freedom to its cows. A freedom that has a great reflection on the quality of the product. Here there is no specific or predetermined number of milking, because thanks to the latest generation robot, animals can enter the queue at any time, of their own volition, when they feel this need. So, on this farm, it is felt that it is the animals that treat everything or that we are close to that future, even though the whole system is constantly processing information and collecting data, behind the scenes, for the maximum efficiency of production and of income of the animals, adapting to each one his needs, in a cycle almost self-sufficient, virtue of the dozens of hectares of land of this holding that provide food. Pedro Simões, who began with the small exploration of his father, managed to grow his art with the help of technology but without giving up the origins.
