Before being a farmer, João Honório was a beekeeper. He had bees, made his honey, but that was all. The woman, Ruth, "had never planted lettuce" as she says. Sheworked as a physiotherapist with at-risk children and Alzheimer's patients. But little by little, the passion for the land and earth (literally) grew in both of them. "I started to look at this differently, to have environmental concerns," Ruth declares. Customers came for the honey and took products that they were planting, always without any chemicals or additives - manure, sun, and water were, and continue to be, their Holy Trinity. “We don't need anything else”, they guarantee.
From the lettuces they offered with honey, they started selling baskets filled with products from the 4-hectare vegetable garden, which, meanwhile, was getting more and more filled. Just like the customer list. Today, João and Ruth's portfolio is impressive - even more so given that they do everything themselves, with no great chance of taking a vacation or going out. The weekly baskets are assembled according to the seasons, always with around a dozen products and guaranteeing maximum freshness. Fruits, vegetables, and aromatic herbs are also added to the animals. We come across dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, turkeys, pheasants, goats, rabbits, pigs, and even a mare. All in full harmony, to the pride of hostess Ruth. After all, how do you get tired of saying “we are all partners.”
